Overview

Because it can not be determined the amount of damage that may have been done to a persons body, through use of drugs and/or alcohol; and due to the fact that often times continued use will mask physical problems, it is vital that an individual be under the supervision of our medical team throughout detox. While most experience only flu like symptoms associated with withdrawal, the risk is too great to ignore.

Safety In Medically Supervised Detox

Withdrawal from addictive substances and prescription drugs can range from mild to very severe and because symptoms can be so intense and painful, it is not advised to "just stop" or go "cold turkey." Withdrawing from drugs and alcohol can be potentially dangerous and can result in severe effects on the body. The length of time you spend in the detox program can vary, depending on the drugs you are being detoxed from.

At the Cedars, for your safety and comfort, detox will be accomplished under the supervision of a staff physician or other qualified medical professionals. It is crucial that during this process, the person is closely monitored by the medical staff to ensure that the highest level of care and safety relevant to a successful recovery.
