Residents are placed into transitional/halfway housing through collaborative agreements with residential substance abuse treatment facilities. The goal is to assist former residents of The Cedars in obtaining stable housing, when warranted.
The goal is to assist residents to achieve healthy, productive and meaningful lives. The transitional/halfway housing provides professional services tailored to the individual that supports empowerment. What appears to be the norm for us, to a recovering addict is an entirely new learning process - jobs, schedules, day to day life functions, etc. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, which encourages them to take advantage of the life-changing tools the program offers. Through this process, residents become assets and are no longer liabilities. Breaking through the cycle of addiction in all aspects, benefits everyone. This type of housing under the proper circumstances, has a more positive long term impact.
Residents accepted into transitional/halfway housing are required to pull their share of the weight. While rules and regulations are in place, they are also required to find work, pay rent, follow housing rules and meet the requirements of their aftercare plan. Accountability is a key to successful recovery.
The more opportunities offered and in place for the resident, the better their chances of recovery.
As part of the aftercare planning of The Cedars, we evaluate the needs of the individual and set up aftercare planning accordingly. If halfway/transitional housing is required to meet the needs of the resident, The Cedars will help make the necessary arrangements to make this happen. We not only work with the resident, we also work with their communities.
