Overview

Massage therapy is highly effective in releasing tension in the muscles, skin and tendons. Most people use it for relaxation, relief of stress and anxiety, or to reduce muscle soreness, often associated with withdrawal.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is a vital part of relieving the symptoms associated with withdrawal - often times lessening the stress, pain, discomfort and anxiety associated with detoxing from drugs and/or alcohol.

An individual may think of massage therapy as a luxury, but it is also very therapeutic, when combined with traditional medicine, to reduce stress, pain, anxiety and withdrawal symptoms. It has also been proven to be beneficial in the healing of individuals with certain health conditions.

During a massage, a therapist manipulates the soft tissues, relieving tension in the muscles, skin and tendons. For most people it is relaxing, relieves stress and tension, associated with withdrawal symptoms. Massage therapy can also cause the body to release "natural" pain killing chemicals in the body and actually boost the immune system.

Some of the benefits of massage therapy during treatment are:

  • Alleviate pain
  • Ease medication dependence
  • Enhance immunity
  • Lessen depression and anxiety
  • Reduce spasms and cramping
  • Relax and soften injured, tired muscles
  • Release endorphins-amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller
